VIRTUAL CAREER FAIR INFORMATION
In the interest of the health of our students, venue staff, and the companies attending our fair, we have made the decision to again host a Virtual Career Fair for the Spring of 2021. The dates are February 9th and 10th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. On this page you will be able to find all the information you need in order to have the best Mays Career Fair virtual experience possible.

HOW TO GET TO THE FAIR:
1. Log in to Symplicity (the link connected to the button above) as a student with your SSO information.
2. In the left-hand column, click on the "Events" drop down menu and select "Career Fairs".
3. Click on the BSC Career Fair Day 1 (or BSC Career Fair Day 2 on Thursday).
Note: This is the same place that you must RSVP to the fair. For additional instructions on how to RSVP, a super helpful step by step video can be found at the bottom of this page!

When you RSVP, the companies will be able to see your HireAggies profile and your resume if you uploaded it
Update your resume

Add any new experiences to your resume

Book an appointment with the Mays Communication Lab to review your resume with a consultant (mays.tamu.edu/commlab)
Review your resume and experiences

Before talking to any recruiters, go back through your resume and familiarize yourself with everything on there.

Be prepared for a recruiter to ask about anything on your resume
Research companies

Make a list of the companies you want to talk to before the day of the fair

Look up the company’s website, identify which job positions you’re interested in, write down what those positions are looking for in potential candidates.

Review the company’s mission and vision. This will help you have an understanding of the company before speaking to recruiters

Write down one or two questions about the company in advance

Research is your best friend. A recruiter can tell if you know nothing about the company before talking to them
Practice your pitch

Book an interview appointment with the Mays Communication Lab (mays.tamu.edu/commlab)

Practice what you want to say to a recruiter, and practice talking about your experiences (preferably in front of a real person, like a roommate)

Pick out your outfit the night before

Go to bed early and eat a good breakfast

Give yourself enough time to get ready

Have some water nearby (but not in view of the camera)
ZOOM ETIQUETTE

Try to get camera as straight on as possible; you do not want to be looking down or up into the camera

Wear professional attire

Have an appropriate background. You do not need to use a zoom background, but make sure your background is a calm and non-distracting color (i.e. a blank wall)

Test camera and mic before interviews and chats

Eliminate background noises or any other distractions

Make sure you have good lighting, recruiters want to actually see you
